1-Brown rice 1 cup
2-Water 2 cups
*yields 4 cups of cooked rice ( 680 calories)
*Each cup of cooked rice is 170 calories
Rinse well the rice. Put the rice and water in a medium size pot over a medium size burner on high heat setting. Leave the pot uncovered until it comes to a boil It may take up to 4 to 5 minutes. As soon as it starts to boil turn the heat to the lowest setting and cover the pot. Let it continue to boil covered for 30 minutes.
*Make sure that the size of the pot is compatible with the burner size of the stove .When I cook I make sure that I use big burners for big pots and big pans and medium ones for medium size pots and pans, and so forth)
This is how I ￼store the cooked rice in the freezer so I can use it any time I need. It is easier to follow the right portion size by preparing ahead .
Put 1/4 cup of rice in a small zip lock snack bag ,after put it inside freezer zip lock bag .Store in freezer for ready to use.(42.5 calories each bag).
