Poached egg

Poached eggs used to intimidate me , not anymore .This is a easy method that works great. You will save yourself the extra calories from frying the eggs. In the same time as you watch the calories you get to enjoy the eggs in another way besides just boiled.


  • 1 Egg
  • 1.5 cup Water
  • 1/2 tsp Apple cider vinegar


1- Put the water and vinegar in a small pot.
2- Put the pot over medium burner on high heat setting.
3- Bring water to boil, around 3-4 minutes. When water comes to boil lower the heat to medium setting. You don’t want the water to keep boiling as you put the egg in .
4- Crack the egg in a small bowl then gently let the egg slide in the hot water (don’t just throw in the egg )
5- Let the egg in the water until it looks firm around 4-5 minutes . 6- Remove the egg with a spatula.

When the egg is just in the water
After 2 minutes as it is getting firmer

As a side note:- Vinegar help the egg  stay together. I find it easier to crack the egg in the bowl first before I slide it in the water.
